After 7 years with the Exmoor back-breakers I upgraded the drivers seat to something with lateral support, lumbar support, and heat. Behold the Scheel-mann Defender Sportline:

I need to look into getting a soft tip for summer. AC is a non starter with my long legs.

Got a lot done this weekend. Removed center seat and installed tuffy console. Installed marine Bluetooth stereo. Due to the ls swap and shifter I lost the original hand brake. Relocated to top of seat box using a RRC handbrake assembly. Fit nice between 12 inch wide tuffy and driver seat. Just waiting for new cable to arrive. Meanwhile hit the local bike trails with family.

They come from Defenders Northwest here.

I had two issues; the instructions were in German and the seat sits higher than the old Exmoor seat which was on MuddUK risers. Defenders NW later emailed supplements to the instructions and I removed the risers to get a perfect seat height.

Plating is back from powder coating and installed with stainless hardware (which I tried to get coated but the shop forgot and I didn't want to wait another week+).

Picked up an ECU in the UK about 5 months ago with an Alive upgrade chip in it.

Running the Td5 10P engine means a non-flashable MSB style ECU. Only way to upgrade is to pull the ECU remove one of the stock chips, and solder in a new one with a different program. Finding one that had the upgrade chip in it was a great find. (and for only a couple hundred $$, it was a no brainer)

Plugged it in, copied and transferred over the injector codes with Autologic, little playing around with the 10AS security settings, and done.

Amazing change! No more sluggish low rpm drag, the turbo is much more noticeable, (actually pushes you back into the seat a bit). Highway pull is fantastic, being able to pull up some long highway hills and stay in 5th gear, and pass people is a treat.

Next up, EGT gauge, uprated Allisport exhaust manifold (along with studs) and intercooler.

Nice to hear. Been toying with the idea as well, picking up a used ECU and getting it done. Glad to hear positive results.

All kinds of humble errands today. Culminating in a trip to Home Despot and loading Nigel up with 640lbs of Milorganite. Does ride better with a load.

Ten years about I installed a oil pressure and volt meter gage and used a radio insert to hold the Gage's in the dash. It took up storage space and covered up a portion of the dash vents.
So I decided to ditch the radio insert and move the Gage's down to the lower dash.
I never use the cig lighter and the clock, well, it difficult to see with the stick shift, so I ditched it too.
Now, I have the oil pressure, hazard, USB port and volt meter in the lower dash. The one USB port acts as a charger and the other is connented to the stereo.
I designed the plate in CAD and laser cut, then powder coat.
Overall it is a very clean look.

Cheers...

Mounted a 48 inch arb awning inside rear of hicap hood. Still closes up fine and no water can ingress between arb and hood. Should make sleeping in bed more comfortable as well as shade for chairs.
I used slotted angle iron between spreader bars on hoop set.

Tomorrow, pulling the nasty nylon fuel lines and replacing. Hopefully ends the air ingress into the fueling system.

Started running warmer than normal at 8,500 feet yesterday and pulled over to see a bit of coolant leaking under the reservoir but could see a crack. Pulled the reservoir this morning to find two cracks on the backside. Swapped it out with a bearmach one I had sitting in the garage.
