I replaced the large rear suspension bushes that have the 3 bolts holding them to the chassis.
Great improvement in stability, I'd got used to the slight twitch needed on the steering wheel when coming on or off the power but the return journey to Bovington Tank Museum was rather tiring -250 miles with lots of rear axle steering input kept me focused.

All fixed, drives in a straight line and the strange knocks have gone too

That is next on my list of to-do's and install the Rover Tyme trailing arms.

Today, Retimed ignition down to 7 from my experiments higher - and installed a New MAF which was a not needed part from my recent stalling issue... i also put back on the silicone MAF to intake hose and stored my OEM parts for the future.

I also have a new TPS sensor to install in the next day or 2 when i do the oil change - then i'll tackle the arms and bushing.. and maybe the extended range fuel tank that are on my todo list.

How much advance were you running and why did you bring it back down?

I've played with 12-10 lately..
Pings mildly at 12 on regular gas, I turned it down to 10, and then 7 which smoothed out the 2-3k range nicely which is where the vacuum advance starts kicking in

Installed new gauges for the Tdi, what do I need to get in order to install a VDO vision fuel gauge too?

Just get the gauge. It is more of a real time gauge so you may notice fuel levels vary when going around corners, but for me it was a straight swap. I am petrol V8. Not sure if it is different for diesels.

Installed a TrackmateGPS. Affordable upfront price, reasonable service fees, and pretty accurate. Won't keep it from running away with someone who thinks they want my truck more than me, but at least I'll stack the cards in my favor if it leaves a geofence between certain times of day or night.

After logging into the online map interface, I can set a quarter-mile radius around my house to be activated between midnight and 5am. If the truck leaves that circle between those times, I get a text and an email. Multiple geofences with custom areas, times, and days-of-week can be set.

Pair that with a GSM switch and you could set up a remote kill switch, siren or something.

That's actually a feature on the unit. It can be wired to a fuel pump or battery lead that can be remotely disabled/disconnected via an included relay.

The unit comes with two antennae...a GSM and a GPS.
