What engine is this?

I apologize for my ignorance but can anyone tell me what engine this is based on serial number? Did a search but would appreciate another opinion!

Google is your friend: Reconditioned 300tdi, at least according to that part number.

Thanks fellers.. I found the block and pistons but no head or ancillaries. Worth picking up and piecing together?

Is this really worthless? I figured maybe I can rebuild it and slowly source all the parts. Trying to save a 300tdi here someone shine some light!

Depending on condition I would not see any reason not to save it.

My thinking is that if you didn't realize it was a 300tdi you may not be familiar enough to do the rebuild yourself and will be paying a shop to do it?

Absolutely not, new to the defender world, not new to engines. I rebuild BMW engines on a frequent basis. This will be cake for me

Thoughts on condition?

The problem is you are missing so much, I'm not sure what you would save if anything.

The second problem, is the block could be cracked and that is why it is there.....

Apparently only block and pistons come with it.

It was removed because of a knock which was later diagnosed as the crank being the culprit

Look at the other picture for the caps, would replace bearings, and no crank as that was the issue in the first place apparently

I would consider it potential spares for an engine you don't have ...

You could make a Top Gear table .... now that would be cool!

I see little value in the pile of parts there.
Without a crank I'd agree its pretty much worthless unless you needed spares.
