What does 18J signify?

Is that just the 2.5 in the MOD vehicles? Is it at all different from the earlier 1xJ models?
CAn't find anything on the interwebs about it other than a couple advertised with the 18J.

Well, they seem to go in order. starting with 12. updates numbered 1 up. I'm thinking the 18J was the 24 volt ready version. Maybe there's an extra hole or 2 in the block for the extra alternator.

ha... I guess. It probably takes a bit to get a new casting made with the right numbers.

All the exmod's I've seen have the 18j. I haven't seen that many and they've all been '86 or '87.

Just curious if there's anything different from the 12j other than the casting number.

Possibly a continuation? 2.5 NA engines made after the launch of the 2.5TD? Just a guess on my part...
