What colour is my '85 Ninety?

All:

The paint code box on the VIN plate is unmarked. I Googled '1985 Land Rover colours' to no avail. The only sticker is on the firewall & reads E11 15R 03713, with MRC 8308 above it. Any ideas? It's not really white, more ivory/cream. I need either a name or a paint code so I can match the new rear door I have coming...

Thanks in advance.

Paul.

I had an 85 RRC that was Sahara Dust... looks similar.

Limestone appears to end in 84.

Think it's Arctic white.

As John stated, probably Ivory, Chamonix, Davos White is correct.

I had an 85' and 87' that color.

Is there any way to tell from the VIN?

Nope.

Google Calvin Land Rover

And you,ll find the decoder and find out what limited info the VIN caries.

Even if you do find it the shop will need to adjust it to match the aged paint. Any decent body shop should have options to figure out the color blend. Years ago I worked on a massive photo spectrometer to do color matching. Nowadays there's probably an iPhone add on and app!

Take the truck to a professional paint sales shop and have them shoot it with their camera system to get a perfect match. If the paint is anywhere near original, it may have changed a couple of shades and will be noticeably different. I had it done with our red 356, and the paint came out perfect...I got lazy when getting some paint for our full size Bronco, and just had them mix the coded paint, and it was about 2 shades off, and that was for a '93 with original paint.
