Unless they've changed within the past year, the Diehard Platinums are Odyssey, not "similar to". They just don't offer as many configurations as the ones with the Odyssey label.
I've heard really good things about the Deka AGM's, especially for the price Costco was selling them for.

you are right, Diehard Platinums are Odyssey. I read that the Diehard's nickel purity is like slightly less than Odyssey... really not a big deal at all.

Sears all the way, plus they are all over the place!

I'm running an Exide Nascar Select 24-84N. 700 CCA at 0 degrees, 850 CA at 32 degrees and 120 min reserve capacity at 25 amps. Works great.

Dual optima yellow top. Haters will hate, but they have been bulletproof for me.

My DieHard Platinum is at Sears being tested right now. I came out to a 12.6v battery that wouldn't start the truck or take a charge. Hoping they just warranty it out.

As a mechanic I can say that Optima batteries are by far the worst batteries I have ever dealt with. The only thing that is close to as bad is the Land Rover Genuine batteries that come in Land Rovers from the factory.

Id like to see that. I guess everything is truly bigger in Texas. Including property taxes I found out this weekend.[/QUOTE]

You said it! and HOA dues aren't cheap either...well at least if your community has any amenities. I really do have the wind turbine. I just bought it for the expedition trailer and as soon as the pneumatic telescoping mast comes in it's going up! 400 watts of wind power!!

You literally have a wind turbine on your trailer?! No solar? I guess Texas is full of hot air...

The HOA fees are less than my other properties, but I'm sure they'll raise it once the community completes build out. I love how Tejas claims to be so conservative, yet my projected property tax is 3%. Thats more than my place in Washington State in the heart of the liberal force field. Guess someone has to pay for the, um, "locals."

I have 40W of solar on my 110 keeping the dual optimas topped up. It's been great, but the yellows were sucking wind with my fridge before the solar install.

While Texas property taxes are high, there is not state income tax, with the sales tax being about 8.25% for most areas.

Taxes aside... Everstart MAXX

Agreed on the Optima Battery. But the batteries used in Honda's fail as soon as the car warranty is up lasting just three years. The battery in my Disco from the factory lasted nearly five years.

Can't say about the D90 or the Disco on my side but the LR3 got the battery replaced as soon as we got it (used, 2 years old, still on manufacturer warranty) and it's been fine since (even with a dying alternator. I assume that replacement battery was manufactured in the US(???). Now... Was the original battery really dead? I don't know. Was under warranty, so.... No troubleshooting on my side.

3.5 years on my Yellow tops and they are still going strong.

Now I do take care of them and keep them on a Battery Tender when it sits for a while...as they do not like getting fully drained.

I don't know about that. I called Enersys and was told by one of their engineers they are identical other than case color and label.

I run Napa Commercial batteries in my 110 and the GF's 101. So far they have been great.

The Odyssey/Diehard battery is really good for those who don't daily drive their truck.
