Water temp guage wiring

Hi,

I picked up a water temp guage for my 2.5Dt. On the back it has 2 spade connectors 1 male and 1 female. Can anyone tell me which goes to the sender and to the power? I don't have the orginal wiring because this is an engine swap into a Series 2.

Thanks,
gene

Hey Gene!
I hope things are treating you well. As I have struggled to get my temp sender and gauge to work right I can tell you straight off which is which (since I have your engine's original wiring)

Male spade is for power in (as the wire for this is a green wire with a female end)
Female end would be for the wire from the sender as it had a male spade. (changed it for the VDO gauge, and finally threw in the towel and went with a VDO mechanical, no idea why anyone would even mess with the VDO electrical, same price for the mechanical, no gremlins)

Chris,

Thanks for that! Been getting the 109 going. I started the motor 2 weeks ago for the first time as I sorted out the starting circuit. Couldn't run long since there was no air cleaner, throttle cable or fluid in the power steering pump(no hoses).

Here's the videos I took; try not to laugh too hard!

My blog on the rebuild; http://poppageno.blogspot.com/

I should be driving it by the end of May if not sooner!
