Vinyl Seats question

Question I have the old vinyl gray front seats in my 89 d90 (which I like, btw)

They need new covers and foam...what's people's advice here, just get new seats or is that an easy fix? Or pay someone to recover?
I know you can buy all the stuff to do it..and watch the YouTube video but that's never easy..(to me)
Thanks

Exmoor trim kits from rovers north... Best bang for your buck and you can get a variety of colors.

Not sure of the differences in design/methodology between years but for what it's worth I had to pull apart my seat covers and foam to get to the mechanisms on my 2008. Time-consuming figuring out the order so as not damage/stretch/rip areas but doable...

Super easy to recover and change the foam yourself.

Second that. I did my 1994 over in Exmoor using the original NAS Car Denim and it was quite easy to do and looks fantastic. Did both front seats and rear bench. Easy day project.

Hi Eric,

I recovered my 90's seats with the Techno kits from Safari HP.

Recovering the seats is straightforward, however it is a bit more of a challenge if you have the earlier hard back seats as the kits are not available in the US...at least I couldn't locate them. The common kits for the later seats work very well w/ some trimming of the seatback foam, etc. Not sure when the seat style switched.

Use quality high-temp trim adhesive like 3m 90.

Exmoor has the kit for the tray back seats. You have to call Arthur at RN to arrange the order.

Hmm, at the time I was told by the folks I talked to there that only the current kits were available and I wound up going through Safari as I was getting the acoustic set from him. Either way, my trayback plastic needed a fair bit of work so I'll get the right sets for the next recover in 25 years :-)

Super easy on my 94 with the Exmor kit. You should pick up some hog rings and hog ring pliers on ebay to assist with the job. I would also check different sources on the Exmor stuff. Rovers north does have the new Exmore bottom cusion that extends ourward to support your thighs.

I put in some heated seat elements while I had them apart - Cobra Seat heat has its own kit and fuse. Nice and toasty on the Bundslogen on cold days.

My foam has lasted for about 5 years and is starting to get mushy. I will be doing the seats again when I have extra cash.

Remember the headrest have little tabs that need to be poked in so you can undue the headrest from the seat.

I worked with Julian, who owns Exmoor, and Arthur. I can't say enough good about both of them. They were above and beyond helpful for me. Rest assured if it is for Land Rover, Exmoor can "cover" you.
