VIN number

I think I may have a huge problem. I recently bought a Series III titles and tagged in California and will be registering in Florida. I can't find the VIN plate and haven't been able to find the number on the frame. The VIN on the tile looks more like a serial number. Starts with 941 and ends with the letter C. Where do I start to look and if I can't verify, what do I do?

It should be on the right hand side front spring hanger

Have a look at www.lrfaq.org

Thanks for the responses. If I research the serial number, should I be able to get the full VIN? The engine was changed out but I knew that (I looked long and hard for a diesel.)

What you have is the full VIN.... http://www.lrfaq.org/Series/FAQ.S.Ch...bers.type.html 941xxxxxxC is a Series 3 109, 6 cyl, British market RHD.

These were built before the worldwide common VIN system was in place.

If you want more information (for the hell of it), you can order documents here: http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co....-services.html

It's a 1981. I thought they started full VIN in 1979. Now it doesn't matter to me - I just want to register the truck. He's a bit of a beater, my back country toy, and will stay that way.

It is not an 1981 model if it is a 941xxxxx.....

I would have a good look for the number on the frame.

Thanks red90. I will do that. Now if he isn't an 81, what year is he (in a range)?

See the link. All series 3 to 79 used that code. You would need to send to the heritage motor certificate to get a bud date.

Then that means my title is "questionable" as it states 1981. Oh boy...
