VDO temp gauge

I know a lot of people here have converted the temp gauge to VDO vision series and I would like to perform the same modification in an effort to troubleshoot some weird readings i get from the current gauge. (plus it looks better) Does anyone have a write-up with pictures regarding the installation process and part numbers? I searched around and found one post saying I need a GM sender? I think i'm a little confused regarding what modofications need to be made in order to get the gauge to work. I apologize if this topic has been beat ot death...

I just did this last week for my 94 d90.
The wiring was simple, but it took me 3 tries to get the correct sender....even now some threads are showing on the sender when I installed it.

I went with the M16 x 1.5 sender. It was the only one I could get to thread in. I called VDO tech support and they said not to worry as long as it doesn't leak....

It seems to register correctly at this point
Email me if you have any questions, as it is still fresh in my mind.

Temp Gauge: 250F/150C Range (#310 105)
Temp Sender: 250F/150C Range (#323-417)..but the threads will stick out some
It is a straightforward swap out, there is a long writeup...search "dim lights"
