VDO Speedo and YBE100540 for ROW

I have searched and found reference but not a solution to the problem I have. The speedo sensor (YBE100540) has a much smaller key then the original speedo cable for my ROW 110. My original attempt at a fix worked for about 500 miles which was to put a piece of heat shrink on the key to enlarge the dimensions. Is there a different speed sensor with a larger key to insert into the LT230? Do I need to replace the speedo drive on the LT230 with a later type that is smaller? Engine, trans and transfer case appear to be out of a 92 or possibly 93 200tdi spec defender.

I had the same problem with mine, I went to Industrial Metal Supply where they had small metal square tubing. Bought a stick of the size that fit snugly on the sensor, crimped it down a little, and put it in.

No problems so far.

I've run the small peg in the large hole as is and it worked fine.

Mine slips without the spacer and only shows about 1/2 speed/inconsistent in the speed indicated.

Neill,

THANKS for that idea. I completely forgot about the small brass tubing selection at Ace. I have had the exact same problem and my shims all ended up failing quickly.
