Value of a NAS 110

Just out of curiousity and without giving a ton away and without pics, what is the popular consensus on what the absolute floor would be to pay for a NAS110 that runs fine (expect for a battery that drains when parked) with solid doors, air and heat work, fairly rust free except bolts, couple dings, saggy headliner of course, with 86,000 miles. Has a r380 trans and new exhaust.

Thanks

40k ....

"(expect for a battery that drains when parked)"

That is why they have cut off switches.

Do you think we have hit that bottom? I think at 40k for a 110 at that description was true even a year ago. With that said it has always been my opinion that most people that buy Defenders have the cash and dont care so much about the market. I also think the beloated prices we have seen have almost never been the sell price. Just like stocks I dont think the Defener market is correcting, it is just going back to a more reasonalbe asking price. I might sell my 110 and would just let it sit before would let it go for under 40k. Better than money in the bank if you ask me. A 110 is a strange thing. No matter how you look at it the supply is just to low to give them away.

I might be able to do it for less so I am trying to see if that would make it a good deal. Sounds like it would be.

The one thing I learned about 110's is besides the rust issue you can spend big money on things like AC, and of course the parts that are NLA. The PO of my 110 spent more than 5k just to get his AC back to normal, which sucks anyway. I think most people overlook the little things and stress on the rust and end spending tons of money anyway. If all your stuff is there and works(and you have no rust) dont sell yourself short. When I sell my Rovers if they sell in less than 3 months I consider that quick. Just my thoughts, Mike

with the known issues with everything that costs so much is it still something people would want for 40k? I mean I have put 10k in my 90 in a year so i know about the cost of the little things

How sure are you on the " fairly rust free" part? How is the interior?, all the little bits there?

What's the bulkhead like, the area around where there would be vents?, the lower part of the posts?

What's the frame look like, rear crossmember, etc.

Pull up carpet and look around, if you found a very clean, low rust 110 for under 40K, wouldn't even think twice.
Does it have the original LT77?, .....
any maint. schedules with the truck?
clean title?

I have a lot more things going through my head, but some things I would look at.

I am going to go over it on sat, the interior looks ok. The owner had it for 10 years. It has been in cali and texas all its life. Mostly california. The trans is an r380 that the current owner put in. it has a new exhaust. The bsket on the roof has a dent from a parking garage. There is a dent in the rear. The crossmember has surfase rust but can be removed. there was rust in the battery compartment that the owner said was fixed and he has photo documentation of the process. All I have done so far is open the doors and look at the bottoms and they look good.

Take a close look around the inner cage and where everything mounts in the back ie. seats, seatbelts etc.

For the truck as he described, 40k would be the absolute lowest I think it would sell at and it would seem to be a great deal at that price.

Now, I saw a rust free one from arizona go for 29k with 130k on it 6 years ago and I know of one that traded hands in 1995 for 17k and a few rust buckets that sold in the 20s, but for a nice one with no material rust and under 100k, I think the original MSRP is the absolute floor.

that is good to know. as of right now if I get this, lets just say it is much lower than the floor people are mentioning so even though i have no business with two defenders i might be willing to do it and sit on it.

So I took a closer look at that 110 and I think it will shortly be mine. Just need a final check by my mechanic.
The good:
New shocks, new exhaust, new cats, new tires, new transmission (r380). Barely any rust. Frame is as solid as anything. Nothing in the bulkhead. move the drivers matt and kick panel and it was perfect.
Biggest issues I have seen so far:
battery drains itself when the truck sits. Could be from not running could be something else
turned on blower for air and it went on and off a couple of times before going.
seats suck - meaning they need new foam. Could be I am use to the new cushion in my truck from exmoor
Rust - one quarter size dot at the bottom of the rear drivers side door. Only can see it if you open the door and look at the bottom. A tiny bit of rust under the passenger floor matt (see pic). That is it for rust on the truck except for all the external bolts and superficial surface rust on rear cross member, and superficial rust on rear capping by a dent. see below

Now for the really bad - it was hit by something in the rear corner and I think it may have been fixed by an idiot. Look at this picture. I need to look at this atrocity of a dent and what it was fixed with. How hard is it to have it done right?
It has a clean carfax and all records of service for the last ten years

Thoughts on what I wrote? Full pics will be posted after it is mine.

Well, that doesn't look bad at all to me. I can't really tell from the pic what is going on in that back corner, but I would say if you can get it for under $40k that it looks like a good deal...

I paid $28k for mine 3 years ago, Rust free, 77K original miles....so they are out there. Wish I still had it. The only truck I really wish I would have kept. That and maybe my Crew Cab 110. I just really like having five doors. Good luck, you can't go wrong with a NAS 110, burned ones have sold for close to $20k. If you want to pass on the deal, I would be happy to buy it, if it is as good a deal as you say. This time though I will keep it.

will have it looked at by my mechanic this week. i figure at the price I can't go wrong. then again . . . If for some reason I don't keep it, the board gets first dibs

Follow-up Post:

the back corner looks like a chunck is missing and something was put behind as a filler. really weird

Here are some pics I just took. Keep in mind it has not been washed in a year. Other thing I just noticed was slight rust on bulkhead where windshield attachs on the pasenger side (photo 52.) THis may be normal wear and tear but my 90 has none so I wanted to get the opinion of everyone on here. Hopefully this will help people give me an idea of the value.

It is ok to divulge your price to us! (inquiring minds need to know!) :0

However, I say anything south of 40K is a steal on that truck! A good pressure washing and that thing will look 50% better!

Congrats if you get her. Make sure you update the 110 registry in the chat area as well if you do.

Thanks
Dendy
