vacum advance hoses

A friend just showed me a new RRC he picked up (best one i have ever ever seen) and I noticed there are two little studs for hoses on the vacum advance on the distributor. It had a little cap on it. I had never noticed on my truck the extra stud, and there is was but I dont have the little cap on it. I havent had any trouble with it ever but was wondering should I have a little cap on there? I am certain I am not missing a hose because it has the one from the V.A that goes to the manifold that has always been there and was the same as on his RRC.
