V8 Won't start

replaced the ignition switch and the alternator. Went to start and it started and ran for 10 seconds, then dies. Has to sit for awhile before it will do it again. Fuel is getting the the SUs and I blew out the lines between the tank and filter and filter and SUs. Any suggestions appreciated.

I'd test fuel pressure. Wondering if pump is borderline

Not sure how to do that. Does the fuel pump in the tank produce this? When I disconnected the fuel line at the carbs, the stream was steady and full.

Fuel filter ... assuming that the pump has to be working or it wouldn't start at all ...

Filter is an easy next step. Not sure of history of the filter any way. When I diconnected the hose coming from the tank and hit the key, fuel flowed freely but the same happened when I disconnected at the carb with the filter in place. Someone in the UK suggested a jet is clogged.
