Used Winch

I'm going tonight to look at a used SuperWinch X9. The guy is asking 400.00 for it but I have no idea what I should be looking for other than if it goes forward and backwards. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Michael

400 is not a bad price... Make sure it works and roll out all of the wire/rope so you can make sure the drum is not rusted.

Well I went ahead a pulled the trigger. It seememd to be in pretty good condition. The drum did have some slight surface rust on it but very minor. The cable was in great shape but I'm guessing that it is only 50'. Younger guy with two small kids and a wife who just got out of the Army after 13.5 years in. Turned out he was a Rover guy who has a 95 Disco all torn apart right now. Gave him what he was asking as I felt it was a fair price. I think I did ok. Now I got to add a on the to bumper to fit a winch. Just what I needed another project.

Cool! Now you'll be able to pull yourself out of any jams. Glad to here it worked out.
