After my last blowup with UPS over damage we dropped them completely. As a result of switching carriers our shipping costs have gone up slightly - every package is insured as well - but our damage claims have dropped to less than .5%

Now if only we could get USPS to stop losing boxes...
I worked for UPS loading trucks over a Christmas Break once. "Inadequate packaging" is kind of misleading, because what one would think is "adequate" probably assumes we didn't do all the stuff that we actually did when loading those trucks.

Yeah not sure what you are "done buying from the forums" since it sounds like your seller responded fairly and quickly.

The rad looks like it could have been packed better. I got one a few years ago where the inlet and outlet necks were both pushed in. It isn't always easy to pack things properly. Sometimes you need to put some thin plywood in the packaging to protect the little pieces that stick out like the pins on LR rads.

Also it is worth mentioning that you can lose one tube on a radiator without sacrificing any significant cooling capacity. Easy to pinch one off or weld it shut.

"done buying from the forums" is more of a reference to buying used. If I buy new from a vendor and the item arrives damaged, than it is easily exchange by the seller assuming there is stock on hand. I like the savings but not the aggravation.

The radiator looked fine but may not be at 100% as designed per Bill at Ron Davis (sent them the same pic). The mounting pin was offset a bit so installing could've be a pain as well. I needed assurances that the upgraded 4.6 would not heat up on the trails. The bent radiator did not give me a warm and fuzzy. Colorover/Brendan was quick to refund so it was overall a great transaction.

We ship over 70 things via UPS daily. They wont cover shit. I shipped a radiator and insured it for $400. They destroyed it and said it was our fault, that it wasn't packed properly. According to their packaging standards, it pretty much needs to withhold a nuclear blast before they will cover it. And even then they will only give you around half of what you insured it for. They give zero fucks.
