upgraded axels?

My saga grows and grows. My axel broke. Sent it to local parts store to order another one. They are telling me its an aftermarket axel. Question is any idea how to find out what type of axel? I can not get in touch with the person I bought it from.

Thanks
Larry

I would look at it this way, it's broken and needs to be replaced. Do you want to replace it with a OEM one or something beefier? I'm sure someone here on the board had a used OEM one they would sell cheap. If you are looking to upgrade go with Great Basin Rovers or Rover Tracks.
Which half shaft is it?

Its the right front. I will get some picture of it and post them. As for upgrading or not I wouldnt mind either way. I take it the newer ones are a lot stronger then the oem? If I replace them what else needs to be replaced?

Follow-up Post:

CV joint that broke. Ball and cage actually. Again I will take some pictures in a bit and let you know.

Thanks
Larry

was it just the CV or was it the CV and the half shaft? Seems odd they would both break at the same time.

I highly doubt you have an after market CV/axle up front since you have stock wheels. To think about you could have ashcroft front axle kit. Do you have lockers/gears?
