Folks - Can anyone identify this engine component in the attachment. There is one on either side of the 3.5 V-8 in this '88 110. I have been told its "something to do with emissions" but no more details than that.

Is it hooked up to the exhaust it looks like an exhaust recirculator.

It is a sort of a cleaner emissions trick of Land Rover.

I have allways taken the whole thing out, blank the 2 openings where the hose fits on the airtube between the carbs and the airfilterbox, and blank the holes where the thing fits in the heads.

The steal tubing tends to rust near the head which gives you an extra exhaust blow, and the gurgling sound from the airfilter goes away.
