no offense but your d-90 isnt going to remain rust-free unless you really take care of it. the fluid-film product sounds good but its temporary especially after you blast it in the car wash. Waxoyl is just not that expensive if you do it yourself and - believe the hype - its excellent. I live in NYC and keep my truck in East Hampton and Nantucket; two very harsh, salty environments. Mine is waxoyl'd and im sure there is some rust under there but its not getting worse. Good luck. 3M and others make rubberized products that spray on; I would not recommend those as they can actually trap moisture.

I am getting under there this weekend. Ill take some pics. Ive been there a few months ago and not one ounce of rust, im certain there will be issues when i look again. Waxoyl do it yourself, sounds like the next step. Right now i just need to clean it up and protect for the meantime. Hopefully its not a disaster under there.

I'm in for a Rover gathering. Ini88, Dan Marcello, was supposed to set something up but it would be cool for all of us to get together. Let's start a thread or email chain or something to make this happen soon.

I jacked the truck up saturday, was shocked to find that there was no visible rust besides the exhaust which i would imagine is standard. I sprayed it with the Salt Away and it was very visible all the salt and gunk that came off. I then sprayed it with Fluid Film and it should be good to go for a while. Next step will be to Waxoyl it myself. I took pictures but they came out like crap because of the lighting. I'm thinking it was protected with something years back.

NYC D-90 gathering soon. lets get on that.

It's getting warmer and the salt is going to be washed away
I'm up for a drink in the city during weekdays (I work midtown)
or we can just start planning an offroad trip somewhere.

nope not me. Anyone know who drives the Green Hardtop around the city. I have seen it numerous times around 23rd street.

What's the easiest way to get this gathering together? I think an email chain would be best, if so we can start posting our email addresses to start planning this.
