So the plug where the flasher attaches has a slot (but no metal pin) for the 5 pins on the new flasher. I didn't even need to modify it to plug it in. The problem is, that didn't fix it. I jiggled the hazard switch some more to no avail. This is getting really annoying. I guess the next step is replacing the turn signal switch module behind the wheel?

You probable want to get out a multimeter and start tracing things so see what gets power/ground and what doesn't and at what point.

The plastic collar breaking perfectly timed with the signals not working has to be significant.

Its possible the relay was also fried, but I think I now need to replace the signal switch on the column regardless.

At this point I'm thinking of bringing it somewhere... I just want to drive it!

I would be surprised if the flasher relay you bought just fits -if- the only thing you guys looked at are the number of pins (and pin orientation). Is there a diagram on the LR part?
Now reading the posts above, it looks like the warning lights are on a different circuit, are those working?

group was right, replaced switch with new one from Atlantic British (along with flasher), flashers/hazards work again.
FYI the steering wheel needs to be pulled to replace the switch.

Interesting side effect to the new switch/flaher...

I think there is voltage leaking into the flasher bc its clicking (slightly) while driving when the turn signal/hazards aren't on.
I noticed that any time any other light is on (hitting the brakes and/or running lights) is enough to prevent this.

I'm thinking that the "leak"/crossed wire is in the trailer wiring due to when I do use the turn signals the trailer dash light lights up very slightly at the same rate...

It is the wrong flasher. I had the same thing happen. Changed flashers and everything was fine.

I believe that flasher from AB is a britpart flasher and not genuine. Not that means anything, but I tried it in my truck and I had the same issues. Get a genuine one from RN and you should be fine.

I still have to get that part number for you on the one I got at the local auto parts store...b/c that works fine as well..

I sourced the Tridon EP26 4-pin flasher locally, $15. Works perfect now.
