Trouble Starting in the Rain

I am a D-90 newbie and have encountered a small problem. It starts just fine in the cold but apparently rain causes problems with the ignition. The ignition fires but the engine won't turn over. Any suggestions? I hate having to metro to work on mornings after it has rained....

What do you mean by this?? Is the starter not turning the motor? Or is it cranking and not fireing?

If its not firing check your cap and wires for corrosion and water.

If its not turning over check that your relays are dry.

Its got about 45K miles. Checked the dist. cap and all the wires and they looked clean. Added some dielectric silicone to all the connections just to make sure.

Its firing as in the spark plugs are firing, but just not turning over and running on its own.

Again, this only happens when it is wet out. Starts fine in cold weather.

Still a little puzzled but I think I figured out what you mean. When you say it's not turning over, you mean the starter is turning the motor but the engine is not firing up. If you have good spark then you may not be getting fuel. Your fuel pump may not be getting power, check the relay, the fuse, and the wires. Most likely the wire going to the pump is shorting to ground when it gets wet.
