Trim-lok lock strips (the easy way?)
I've done a few of these on my truck, and just recently did some windows, so I thought I'd share the easiest way I've found to install the Trim-Lok lock strips. This might seem painfully obviously to some folks - it wasn't to me.
There is supposed to be a tool, Trim-Lok #365-0008, but I don't think using the tool is as easy as this method. Mostly the issue I have with the tool is that I have to insert the lock strip into the tool, as a thread through the eye of a needle. Not to mention, it's not cheap. But YMMV.
The best tool I have found is a pair of 5-7" long-nose pliers, the kind that cost $4.99 at Home Depot or Harbor Freight. Alternatively, I have done the same thing with snap-ring pliers, which work okay as well. Either way, the most important thing is to have controlled operation, since using screwdrivers or things like that can easily slip out of the groove and scratch/destroy your paintwork.
The pictures hopefully illustrate the process.
