Anyone have a link to a page that decodes the transfer case codes/serial numbers?

I definitely thought it had one when I bought it.

To add more info to the thread, here are some vague suffix code definitions from Land Rover:

Suffix C,D (manual trans)
Suffix E,F (TDI, auto or manual trans)
Suffix G (damn near anything could be suffix G)

Mine is a 28D with an F suffix, so 1.222 TDI. What good it does to put a 1.222 tbox is behind a 300 with an automatic is beyond me.

Good info. Mine was a 12D. I replaced it with a 27D (because it was free) and have been happy with that. Cruising at 75-80 is no problem and I get 23-25MPG. Interestingly, my commute home is elevation gain of 1200' everyday. I'm forever shifting from 5th to 4th to 5th in the 110 SW with a 3.9 V8. In the 200Tdi HCPU, I can stay in 5th all the way home.

The only time that 1st gear wasn't enough was with a full load of wood trying to take off uphill:

On the rear face, below and to the left of the fill plug. The number will be dot struck, something like 10 digits, mine reads "28D511530F"
