4.0 Disco V8. I am away from all my tools and manuals and literally have to rebuy what I need for the job.

What's needed?

From memory:

Fan wrench (size?)

10mm and 13mm sockets with extensions.
10mm wrench
Breaker bar for tensioner (how does it attach?)

10mm and 11mm for the water pump bolts. Thread sealant for the ones that go into the water passages (long ones on driver's side.

Borrowed the 36mm fan clutch wrench from vatozone. Loosen the fan counter clockwise. Just replaced my viscous unit today. Use a calibrated torque wrench.

I would not use a torque wrench unless you are replacing the bolts with new Genuine ones. The long bolts will almost certainly snap if you follow the factory toque spec.

Agree. Water pumps are not something that generally require proper torquing of bolts.
