having handled the shipment/importation of a couple dozen of these trucks, one thing I can offer is that most every buyer immediately wants to go soft top. The ONLY reason most have bought the FFR trucks with plastic van sided hardtop is because as limited use radio trucks they are in far better condition than the soft top trucks.

I'm guessing spammer hasn't discovered Google yet.

The vanside top is amazing out on the trail when it comes to sleeping. I lay my Thermarest and sleeping bag down in back and when I shut the door, it's dry, warm, and quiet.

With the vanside top on the internal temp on the truck is on average 150 degrees in the summer in florida (which lasts from may till November). One would be fucking STUPID to drive around Florida with a Tith with the vanside top and no ventilation. But whatever, just not as cool as you - I get it.

My god, you are dense. I never called you uncool or claimed that I was the "arbiter of fashion". All I said is that I was amazed that someone would hack up a vanside top when there are soft tops available (for less than the cost of your light set). Soft tops that get you actual ventilation and can be properly closed when it rains.

Why are you so emotional and sensitive about this?

Fwiw some of those fiberglass tops had holes drilled in them for military police lifting, radio aerial mounted etc.

I knew that many people had tops that rolled up. However, it wasn't clear how they rolled up because of some bad information that PA Blanchard had given me saying you couldn't roll up their tops due to the design.

And I'm still looking for that Google thing you mentioned. Can someone provide a link?

Raub did a great job on his top. It transforms the vehicle from an "Easy Bake Oven" that gets so hot inside that you could hatch chicks in it. It is now comfortable and fun to drive. No harm/no foul here. I may do a similar thing on some of mine.

Also, the cost of a st conversion is not cheap, nor is the canvas [pvc] readily available. I have been waiting a few months for my order from the manufacturer, and they are still a few weeks from arriving. The used ones on Ebay UK lately are 500 quid.

If anyone wants one of these gel tops , I I have one that is surplus.
