Yes, I have run 235 85 R16 on alloys and on D1 spares which are the same 7in wide. They work fine and look good. Also, you get a bit better turning radius than a 265 75 R16.

If I may, I think I know what Randy is saying. A 235 tire is not 235mm wide at the tread, it is across the tire casing. A quick check of the BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 in 235 85 16 shows that the tread width is 6.5".

I can also see visually what he is talking about, although it does not bother me. I think he is afraid it is oging to look like this:

Also, for the sake of full disclosure... I don't care for alloys on Defenders anyway. I never understood why someone would want bling on a working vehicle. Reminds me of a big filthy black dump truck I saw in DC the other day. "Pimpin' Ain't Easy" nicely lettered across the back...

Though I was admittedly somewhat partial to a certain 90 that had Boost rims on it, "the one that got away"...

Renching, do you have a pix of BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 in 235 85 16 on your truck? Thanks!
