time to replace?

My shock towers are starting to look like flaky baklava pastry around the mounting base. Rest of the structure seems solid.

Is it time to replace them? How about the rusty looking shocks and springs?
If so, for the towers should I go with OEM, Proline or those tubular Terrafirma types?

I'm not trying to do a concours restoration. More of a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of person.

Personally, yes, I would replace them. Mind you they only really hold the force of the upper shock pushing up, so I wouldn't say it is critical, but I would both replace them and, more importantly, I would treat the spring perch/frame mount and put a protectant such as POR15 on it...

If you want to use your existing shocks make sure the new towers have the same mounting for the shock.
