This should fit...no?

Saw this in the sale circular for A/B. Is there any reason why this WOULDN'T fit my truck?
I've been looking to do an intake for sometime, and this is a good lazy way out of it.

I wonder how it would mount to the MAF since it would replace the original canister. I don't think the shiny SS pipe could be used, therefor, I would just buy a K&N...you can get one for $35-$50. Sure beats paying $300...

Cheers...

Holy Overpriced, Batman! $300?

Anyways... the intake on Defenders is very different from that on the RRC and Discovery, with a 4ft long intake pipe leading back behind the engine to the air filter. The Mass-Air sensor is also at the end of that pipe as well, so you can't just remove it all. You would have to put the filter element where the stock unit is, and that brings up a lot of mounting issues.

If you want better flow, you can just get the replacement K&N element and put it in the stock housing. But the big limiting factor is that long hose, not the filter element. So won't really gain you much.

If you do a K&N search, you will find an almost infinite range of sizes. Find one that matches the MAF or whatever you need to plug it into. In the attachment, you can see I attached a filter directly onto the MAF. The picture is a little disorienting as this is my tomcat and things are turned around a bit.

What filter is that? What size motor is it used on? I believe that John Lee from EE used a filter that size in the mushroom of a raised air intake...

It's a 3.9 and I believe a defender or RR MAF. I took the diameter of the inlet and matched it to a K&N cone filter. I don't remember the number, but like I said, you can probably find something that will work for you. www.knfilters.com You can look up filters by size.
