Third Brake Light Mount

Any ideas where to find the 3rd brake light assembly mount , you know that U SHAPED bar that attaches to the tailgate behind the spare wheel and mounts to the side of it, mine rusted and one end is totally loose .

Thanks

I am on the verge of getting the tooling to make them, I am just trying to judge the market for them. They would be much cheaper, probably in the $200 max range.

Take the bar off, not many cops would know if it came with a 3rd light anyway, it leaves you with less rust, more cash, and more visibility.

That's what I did with my last D90 and will probably do with my current one too. No need for it.

I was thinking on 86 the whole thing, ( not to worry about the Cops as I wondered if a Fraking 18 wheeler will see my lower brake lights ), I might end up doing it

Ditch it. Did that with mine the day before inspection and it passed. As for truckers they seem be able to figure out that I'm braking just fine.

I am still quite happy with the work that Gary Landes did to restore mine. See this thread if you have not all ready. His restoration is holding up fine......

I personally think the extra brake light is very useful. If you don't replace it at least mount one in the center cap hole of the spare.

Pictures here should give you an idea of how it mounts.

Charles, t
Thanks for the link
I have my Hi lift mount on the Center Cap of the spare.
If I don't get one to replace and still want the 3rd Light, I was thinking maybe the roof rack.. not sure .

Do you keep your hi-lift mounted at all times? Seems a perfect spot for the light if you don't. Add a plug to be able to unplug and put in the hi-lift mount when you need it.
