I bought a Third Brake Light from ECR, but it didnt come with a brake light.

Anyone have a recommendation on one to buy or where to get an original?

Thanks.

Search "corvette" or "third brake light" in the custom google search and you should find the previous discussions on sources and other ideas for replacement.

There is a similar hella unit sold by Rallylights. I posted a link in a similar thread. Now to find it...,

Bingo!

I just installed a Ron Francis Wiring led 3rd light on my 90. It is an led light bar in a pebble grained molded plastic housing...really nice for an aftermarket part.

RW13 is internal. ST need a weather proofed external unit.

Hi Charles, I used the RW43, the 4" straight model. It is plenty bright and visible. I have an interesting old French sticker on my upper rear window that I wanted to keep and the 10" is too big, plus the smaller one is a bit more discrete, but given the driving public, I'd use the bigger one if you can.

To clarify, this is for a SW, the light adheres to the inside of the rear window.

Looks like maybe the early 90s LeBaron's might fit as well.

Ooh, that looks like it's worth a try, thanks. It even has an aluminum housing!

Did you end up ordering one from flea bay? I got one and it seems like it is going to work pretty well size wise. Additionally much sturdier than the old light.

Yes I did. Here is the end result

The pros are that it's roughly the same profile and has a sturdy aluminum case. The cons are that it is not as wide (maybe 1" less total), and requires 2 holes to be drilled into the mounting plate to mount it as-is. If you cared you could trim the mounting plate to make it look more like it belongs, and change the studs for a bolt going up (although I think then you'd have clearance issues with the light). I am sure you could get more creative, but my goal was to just get a decent functioning light and this does the trick.

I first tested it before opening it up.

The existing wiring needs to terminate inside the light so it needed to be opened anyway, but I was also curious. I added connectors to match the bullet connectors on the truck, but if I were to do it again I'd just change connectors to something better.

Here are side pics and close ups of it on the mounting plate. No, I'm not going to bother painting this black unless I get some serious flack. Heckle away.

Ah nice. I have a new brake bar that I have to paint anyways so I am going to pull it apart, sand it down and paint it black.

Very nice that is the closest Non-OEM match that I have seen yet.

I can't believe someone isn't making a NAS 3rd brake light out of fiberglass or aluminum.

When I got my D90 in 2001, many NAS guys were pulling the 3rd brake light & bar and selling them cheap on the D90 Yahoo club. I got one for the bar, the light came with it as a bonus, but it was cracked so I threw the light away...in hindsight I wish I kept it and repaired it.

Back in the day, many NAS guys were pulling NAS parts i.e. the 3rd brake light bar, NAS step bumper, NAS consoles, the list went on, - they were going for more of an ROW Set up. Not the case any longer..

.

Yep. And I was one of those guys! Sold my back bumper, side step bars and rear tire carrier. All dirt cheap I am sure.

I might have a solution to this. Will provide an update fairly soon.

Cool. What are you making this out of? Do you have a solution for the lens too?
