The year of built of my Engines

Am Looking for the year of built of my engine, As my engine is not the original from my truck but it have been replace by someone before i did buy it.
Is there a way to know, what year is this engines.

I've never seen any information on engine serial numbers versus years of production.

Suggestion: Ask your friendly Landrover dealer if he can look it up in their records using the engine number. Or ask the previous owner?

16L means it is a non-EGR Defender engine, AFAICT, so earlyish most likely.

Small consolation, 300tdi engines started production 1994.

A friend of mine runs a land rover / range rover specialty repair shop. Based on his experience, they are capable of stopping anywhere, anytime, at any cost.

I don't know about the brakes, only their unreliability.

I would be surprised if LRNA had access to engine codes for an engine they never sold. That being said, perhaps it's worth a shot to call a dealer in the UK/ROW
