I highly recommend Dennis Williams at LindDen Engineering http://lindenengineering.com/ for Denver and west of Denver

A long time british land rover guy that worked for Land Rover in the UK and Iraq (oh the stories he has) and when needed will source things through his brother who's still in the UK and can pick up hard to find parts easily.

as a bonus he's especially good with diesels...

Anyone know of any good places near Memphis either in Tennessee, Mississippi or Arkansas? I'm in Memphis and I've always been less than pleased with the Land Rover dealership here.

Anyone have any recommendations for a mechanic in the Boston area? I have a friend down there with a Disco II looking for "other than dealer" options.

Thanks,

Greg

I'm going to second the request for a good body shop in the Mississippi area.

Classic is a good place in Fairfield.

Another good shop in CT is Holland's Garage in Guilford. http://www.hollandsgarage.com/

Yorks & Lancs in Chatsworth is the best place I know of in the L.A. area They have been taking car of my '94 D-90 since it was new. It's now got over 180k on it, many respectable off road miles among them. . They are honest, do excellent work and will do whatever they can to help you out. A few years ago my car died in Lone Pine, CA (very small town in the middle of Nowhere). I took the car to 2 mechanics via tow truck; one thief and a second who quickly confessed he knew nothing "'bout any ferign cars." I called Yorks & Lancs on my cell phone, handed it to the mechanic in Lone Pine and for the next hour they told the guy how to fix the car over the phone (ignition problem). No charge. I'm not a personal friend or a partial owner, just one very loyal customer. Look them up in the 818 area code; you won't be disappointed.

Memphis

Found a guy in Memphis, Livingston Wilson, used to work for Land Rover in the UK. Got an engineering degree in Memphis and ended up staying to run his own shop here. He's got all of the Land Rover diagnostic gear and is about 1/3 less than the dealership here.

I've heard great things about JC Rover in the Denver area but haven't had the opportunity to work with them. I have, however, worked with Rob at MIT Automotive in Evergreen, CO. He's an enthusiast, doesn't B.S. and is a great mechanic (Land Rover and BMW certified).
