The best cheap mod EVER!

Took out the wiper relay and fitted a VW type 99 relay. Cost about $20 on eBay. Now I have programable delay wipers!

Turn on the wiper on the intermittent setting and then turn the wipers off.

Now wait until you want to wipe the screen again. Turn on the intermittent wiper setting. The relay has now stored the wipe interval time.

The wiper interval stays at this timing until you turn off the ignition, or adjust the interval setting again by moving the stalk to off then back to intermittent.

Washer will provide a single wipe of the screen rather than three wipes which is a bonus too.

Should be able to find them under VW relay type 99

Pretty cool. So the "fast" second wipe mode stays the same? Only adjusts the intermittent?

Keep in mind that you need to have intermittent wipers to begin with. This won't help if you just have the two speed wipers.

Correct. You need to have the intermittent wipers to start. This relay will give you the exact same function on hi, and low. Single wipe with a quick washer squirt (instead of the standard 5?) and the ability to have adjustable time between wipes on intermittent.

Don't all NAS D90's have intermittent wipers?

Cool! I love it. Here's my dumb question; Will this work in a NAS '95. My 90 is in Napa right now, and I can't remember if it has intermittent wipers. Haven't seen it in months. I haven't had the top on it in 5 years so needless to say I only see the wipers on when I accidentally hit the lever ;-)

Anyone know if this will work on an early RRC?

I would think that if your current relay has the same plug configuration, and you have a non adjustable 1 speed intermittent position on the wiper stalk, it should.

The 89-94 RRCs had variable in the switch & I think that may be a direct swap into the 87-88s so I'm going to explore that option more.

But I found some of the 99 relays on eBay for 15 shipped. As of now he has 6.
