Tembo front bumper- anyone have one?

All:

I saw a pic of a 110 with a Tembo on it in the latest issue of 'Land Rover Owner International' magazine. There was an ad on the following page. I priced one on the website but it'll be $1600 plus shipping from the Netherlands. Ouch. I'd really like input/feedback before I buy, or maybe even to actually see one. Here's a shot from the website;

And the shot from LROI;

I'd prefer it if it had a brush guard, but I might be able to add that later.

Thoughts?

Happy New Year!

Cheers,

Paul.

Any reason why you'd want this in particular over a rockware?

Is there a specific Rockware model you were thinking of? I'm not a big fan of the tubular style bumpers, but open to suggestions.

FWIW, here's the Equipe...

?? Rockware doesn't do tube bumpers.

I googled them, but prefer the ones I posted pics of above.

Give the guys at Lucky8 a call. They have a supplier that makes a bumper exactly like that with/out a brush bar.

I want to say they were about $1k.

If you plan to use the bumper for winching and recovery you should make sure it is design to do so. Many of these are for looks and don't stand a chance in many off road recovery situations. IMO Rockware is a tried and tested product and not only performs flawlessly but stands the winds of time and will not drop in value. Plus it's a US company.

I like the way ARB's look but I've seen too many bend in real life situations and for that I don't recommend them for off road use.

1of40:

I looked on the Lucky8 website, but didn't see anything like those above. Maybe it's special order? The primary use will not be recovery. I'm not a big fan of the way the ARB looks on the D90. I had one on my FJ Cruiser & it was a nice piece of kit, but somehow it doesn't suit the LR nearly as well.

Thanks,

Paul.

Paul, I took a look after my post as well and agree it wasn't there. L8 was a sponsor of an event where they introduced the guys and the bumper. It might be featured on their LR3 iirc.

I'd give them a call just to be sure if you have the extra time.

Good to hear that this bumper will not be expected to do any HD stuff. I remember being amazed at how easy some of these winch bumpers bend.
