Tdi VDO oil pressure sender help

I have a 200tdi and went to install the light bulb shaped VDO oil pressure sender and the sender cannot reach into the small space. What type of m10 adapter have others used to space the sender out ?

Hi Doug, I installed a VDO mechanical oil pressure gauge and teed off from the original sender unit to keep the light pressure switch to one side and the pick up or in your case sender unit on the other. Picked up the tee at local part store.

The sender I have has a 7lb warning light sender as well as the gauge sender-thats part of what makes it so large. Guess I'll search some more for some sort of 10m male/female extension but had little love from google.

I know for a fact that there is not much difference between standard thread and metric in this size. So at least you can check that for maybe a 90 degree or something similar.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Is the threading the same on the 300? If so, I agree with Pat, its VERY close to 1/8 NPT I believe.

nope. Have the tach and boost hooked up. Haven't been driving the Tdi, so out of sight out of mind. Dropped the ball on finishing over a $3 chunk of brass.

So do we know if the 300 and 200 are the same? It sounds like 360-006 may work on the 300tdi -- can anyone confirm?

Doug, you coming tomorrow?

What was the verdict on the threads for the light and the adaptor?
Also which sending unit did you ultimately go with for your 200Tdi?

I just finished my oil pressure gauge project last night using the VDO gauge and their 1/8npt sender w/ warning light.

Probably being overly conservative but with the diesel I wanted something better than the typical brass VDO/Autometer adapters and found this one:
http://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/84433465

Appears to be a well made piece, plated steel, larger than the brass ones with an o-ring and crush washer seal on the engine side. It is a bit longer too so clearance from the injector pipes is not an issue (on the 2.5na).
