TDI 300 Turbo Advice

Hi

I got a TDI 300 on my disco 1 auatomatic.

20,000km ago i did an engine overhaul due to heavy oil consumption. The engine is working great now.

I think the turbo is going bad though! Questions:
Where can I buy a new turbo and what's the estimated price?
Is there a rebuild kit for the turbo?

Thanks in advance
Ed

Rebuild !!!

You can have the rebuilt if it is not too badly damaged. Turbo shops can even have the housing grinded and put a bigger impeller for additional cost of course.

My 200 Tdi Turbo cost a little over 500 $ CDN to be rebuilt.

Hey Pendy

The tranny has improved but it still sticks a bit when cold! Leaving it to idle for about 5 to 10 minutes before driving seems to help alot as well.

How much would it cost me to have the turbo rebuilt?

Not sure but you can get it done at my cost. Plus a couple beers. They are a small Turbo so you want someone good to do the work. Or we could price a replacement cartridge instead. I also use another out of town shop you could call direct as well. A1 Turbo in Tennessee I belive. Try google or ask me to look for a phone number.

Guys I came across two OEM land rover part numbers for the TDI 300 turbo.

ERR4802 and ERR4893. Which is the correct one ?

I did some searching and the Garrett part numbers on both turbos is the same: 452055-0004.

I even came across this:

Model Type Engine FamilyTurbo Turbo Code O.E.M Turbo Code
Discovery 2.5 TDI Gemini lll TB25 452055-0004 ERR4802
DISCOVERY 2.5.2004 GEMINI III T250-04 452055-0004 ERR4893

Talking TDI 300 Turbo Advice

Guys

I was in luck! I bought a new ERR4893 on E Bay. I got it for 205 GBR. It does not include the manifold fittings. As soon as I receive it, i'll let you guys know. I purchased it from a seller with 100% postive feeback so I'm guessing that it's gonna be all good.

Dam

I still think I got a good deal. The new turbo should make the engine bay look a little prettier.

Plus I don't have to any lenghty downtime while waiting for the Catridge to be installed. I should be able to install the new turbo in an hour tops!

Also considering that here in Trinidad the price of a new turbo 1000GBp.

I guess I''m just a fox who missed out on the grapes :-)

hahahaha

BTW how much could you have gotton it for!

Regards
Ed
