TD5+ rear shocks on TDI
I'm sure this is covered somewhere, but I can't seem to find the info so here goes:
I've got a set of the NTO newer gas type shocks, the ones you would find on TD5 and TDCI's
that I plan to install on my 110 300tdi.
I understand that the newer rear axles have a set of cups welded to shock mounting area which replaces two of the four floating cups that have been used on earlier trucks.
The rubber bushings also look different, and I understand the threaded ends on the shocks themselves are longer
So my question is this; what's the best way to mount these newer shocks to the older axle? Can I use the new bushings? Should I just add a set of cups? Or is it best to use a set of the older bushings/cups and add a spacer to accommodate the longer shock end?
