TD5 Dash

ECR's web site got me thinking again. Can someone who has the New TD5 Dash measure the Face Plate Bezel or whatever it is called? Total Length and Width please. Have been thinking about doing the conversion but I really do not need or want all those extra buttons. Do not know how to wire them either. Thinking of using all the new parts except the bezel and putting a Mud UK Console cover instead of the factory one. Thinking about putting in a large garmin in and transplanting the clock ciggi lighter and hazard. Any thoughts on this? Really like the darker inset and vent handles. One of my existing handles is jacked so would need a new one anyway.

I thought of the same thing. If someone is willing to mail me the Mud cover I can try it on the bezel I have for the TD5.

I'll nip out and measure my dash shortly and take some piccies.

In the meantime, Here's a pretty good thread, if a little long, on how to fit a Td5 dash to a non-Td5 bulkhead and get all the twinklies working as well.

Is there anyone that still sells a TD5 dash kit? I want to buy everything needed except the lower dash. I've tried getting a hold of Stephen Peters with no luck. Does anyone know who might sell the parts?

Email Stephen he will get back to you I am sure. Last I heard he had some of the td5 stuff.

I installed the Mud UK dash kit and installed a double din Garmin system. You will run out of room to the rear so I had to modify the rear of the bracket to make it work. It is very tight for space but works and performs great.

I've emailed Stephen a few times and haven't gotten a response. That's why I am asking if there is another source for the parts.

Sorry for that, did you try Lucky8? I know he had some of the MudUK stuff at one point? He is starting to stock a bunch more parts too from what I understand. You could also try George at RDS. Most of his stuff would be take off. Of course Rovers North and Atlantic British carry some of the aftermarket stuff.

Kind of a side question here and not entirely worth starting a new thread (sorry for hijacking), but I'm looking for opinions on fitting an indash navigation to NAS 90. I don't want to go crazy here financially and see that Rovers North sells an add-on similar to what I'm looking for, although not really. Is there a good source to buy these from? I see that you can pick them up from eBay UK, but it appears to be just the face with no sides. Is there some sort of easy plug-and-play kit install?

Something like this:

I would go with the Mudstuff before going with the TD5 dash. Gives you a lot more options....

Converting a NAS dash to Td5 is $$. MUD is a good option.

If have to convert the whole dash? There's not a relatively quick and easy kit to accommodate the NAS setup?

The Mudstuff or Iron Goat bits are the easy/cheap options. td5 = whole dash

Got my Mudstuff dash installed. Relocated the rear wiper controls and defrost switch up to the top. Routed the existing plastic bezel and painted it black. Hazard switch and clock relocated to the right of that. Heated seat switches (from a Ford Focus) were installed recessed to be flush with console. Cigarette lighter relocated to lower right and USB input for Nav unit (or charging) on lower left. All in all, the unit looks completely stock. Nav system is the AVIC-Z140BH with integrated backup camera (mounted next to the rear window washer jet). A really nice unit. Navigation, XM and HD radio, DVD, iPod/iPad/iPhone integration, and is even hooked up to a PS3 under the passenger seat for road trips.

Looks great at night too. All the button lights on the console match.

I made a custom boot screen as well for the unit.

Thanks for all the help and advice guys. This is a HUGE improvement over the stock setup. I was really hesitant to do this upgrade because I knew it meant cutting. That's a one way street. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out though. It changes the whole truck and matches perfectly.

Just find some that you like and fit them. I searched around a lot before I settled on the Ford Focus heated seat switches. They matched the console perfectly and have the same color green light. They weren't the easiest in the world to install as I chose to recess them, but anything is possible.

I suggest finding some OEM switches from a vehicle and adapting them to your needs.

The generic aftermarket heated seat switches are easy to install, but just look so darn aftermarket in my opinion.

The round switches are a dime a dozen. Go on eBay, Amazon or even your local auto parts store.
