Tailgate bar for Badger Top???

My D90 goes to paint tomorrow and I am planning on installing and painting a belt rail kit (mine's a 94- came with snaps for the Tickford top). Tonight I've realized that there is a "tailgate bar" that exists as well...and I haven't received one. Is this something that is screwed or riveted onto the tailgate- or is it a plastic reinforcing piece that slides into the canvas back? I'm hoping it's the latter- I'd rather not postpone paint waiting for another part!

The tailgate bar slides into the rear curtain and fastens to the tub by two plastic clips. These clips are bolted via rivnuts into the capping.

Cheers...

If you're talking about the bar that snaps to the truck to keep the back window from flapping, it slides into the canvas top. Paint away.

I have the painted belt rail on my blue truck. The tailgate clips are screwed on the top of the back and the tail gate bar slides into it. Sad to see you get rid of the tickford

Phew- thanks everyone for the input.

Barry- I'm sad too- I like the Tickford...but it's got to go. The insurance company paid to put all new plastic in it too- so it's going to be even nicer when I get it back from the upholsterer. The problem is I have a storage issue, so I'm going to have to sell my fiberglass top as I don't have the room for it when the soft top is on. My plan is to go with the Badger II year round and stick with one top. If I ever move and get better storage I'll probably wish I'd somehow hung on to both tops!

Big hail storm- resulting in golf ball-sized dimples all over.

Birdman, I need your help (I'm making flapping bird signals to summon your powers). I need to see an example of precisely where the belt rail rivets into the back sides of the tub. If it's where I think it should be I'm going to need to make up some spacers. I don't have a soft top yet- where it was merely ordered this past February...so I was hoping to see a live example so I don't give my body guy the wrong instructions. Are you around this weekend by chance?
