tach light

My illumination light on my tachometer works only intermittently, it will usually just stay off unless I hit it or tap it a few times, lately that method has stopped working as well. I recently replaced all the dashboard lightbulbs so I'm sure it is not the bulb. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you fix it? Or is this just one of those Lucas quirks?

Do you mean the battery light on the dash? If so then check all 3 wires on the back of the alt. 1 is the main and 1 is the exciter and 1 goes to the tach. Make sure they are tight on both ends of the wires and you can even check for resistance. Good luck.
