T-case problems?

So I dropped the front drive shaft out of the truck, and it wont move. I mean, in theory, it should still move, right? I still have the rear hooked up, and it is 4 wheel drive.

So I am wondering.... Does the transfer case have some sort of viscous clutch in it that distributes power front to rear, therefore requiring the front end to be intact to get the rear end moving, or is my transfer case blown? Any ideas?

You`re a smart cookie.

Alright, so here is another question. I have the front drive shaft out, and as I suspected, all my problems went away. It drives fine while locked up. Problem is that the D90 is my daily driver. Would it cause any damage to drive that thing around for a couple weeks with the drive shaft out and the t-case locked up?

No. I've drove mine around for most of the summer in frontwheel drive. Just don't dump the clutch or anything crazy and you'll be fine.
