Swivel ball/seal leaking

And here starts the next chapter in my "build a Defender 90 one failed part replacement at a time".

OK, so my swivel joint on the driver's side started making some noise & upon checking it was empty of oil. I refilled it and it's leaking like crazy (hence the empty situation). Nothing like oil on your brake rotors!

I unfortunately noticed some corrosion on the ball itself - near the upper 1/3 of the ball. Do you think I can get away with just replacing the seal or does the ball need replacing?

Actually you need to check the swivel pin preload, if too loose they will leak even with new seals. While you are in there consider the sale on the Longtracks CV's and axles.
'73 SeriesIII coiler,"The Goat", Daihatsu 2.8TD,Santana,Ashcroft,ARB's,etc., now SOLD
