Hello Everyone,
I did some searching here and didn't come up with an answer to my question. I have a pair of complete puma doors I have mounted to the door pillar but I am having an issue trying to figure out the door striker/latch. The stock latch obviously wouldn't work so I was wondering if there is a latch/striker conversion parts I should get?
Thanks Bozman. I did buy these but not seeing a clean install option. I am guessing I will have to drill new mounting locations. Would love to see someone's install so I can emulate.
Yes, drilling new holes is definitely part of the story. I'm taking mine into the shop later this week in part to get said holes drilled - they have a ton of D's sitting around to make a studied observation of where & how the holes go & I can only assume that they're less likely to miss a cut than I am anyway...
When I installed the new style doors on my 84 I made a template from a stock truck with the new style doors and just drilled the holes where they needed to go.
Maybe you find someone with a tub that can make a template for you?
I had some replacement T-Supports which appeared much older than my new style doors. I simply engaged the striker in the door latch and closed the door to where body lined up. I held the plastic and metal spacer to align with the striker, Marked location and drilled new holes. Happy with the results and doors latch and line up.
I did need to modify the nut plate as there was internal interference on my T-Supports with some sort of reinforcement.
Mine was probably a bit easier since I have no seat in the vehicle so it allowed me to crawl around and mark locations. Also no door seals to obstruct view.
