Surrey Top

So I was gifted a surrey top, however the front has no way to connect in. I am thinking it should have clamps or maybe a bar that slides across the front and fits in the groove at the front.

Anyone have any idea on this?

What top was on your truck? Do you have the header bar?

Ron,

I have a header bar and was able to use a beat up best top. Most of the time I used the Fiberglass top though. The surrey just has fabric where it would connect, seems to be a sleeve. It has two clips that hook to the outside of the header bar, but nothing in the middle.

So I was wondering if there is a bar that goes into the sleeve then tucks into the header bar or more clips that it is missing.

Thanks.

Hey Mark, what type of surrey is it? If it's the '94 style then it will need a metal bar that slips into that sleeve. Then that is inserted into the header bar. The Bestop style had a long plastic bar sewn into it just like the regular full top. I'm sure you can get a piece of metal from home depot that will work. It's nothing special. If I can remember what mine looks like, it's about 1 inch wide and maybe 1/8 to 1/4 thick.

Brian,

Yes, I think it came off a 94, so that sounds like it. I was thinking that. I'll hunt one down I guess unless anyone knows of one for sale or if one of the parts guys have it.

Thanks for the help.

Mark

Just remembered the ends are rounded off too. It's literally just a straight piece of metal. I'm almost positive you can get one at Home Depot and just grind off the corners so it doesn't tear the top.
