Stupid = poor performance

Just cured my poor running/stalling/bad mileage problem in the LWib. Set engine at TDC on compression stroke. Pulled off dizzy cap. Bingo: off by one tooth on the drive gear.
Reset to proper position and it runs sweet as a nut.

Shop tip: To find TDC I stuck a bit of paper towel in the plug hole of #1. Positioned my iPhone on the cowl so it could "see" the paper towel cz you can't see it line of sight. Blip key until I could see paper towel pop out on the phone screen. Got within 6 degrees so finished by hand.

Don't ask me how it got out of tune. I do remember putting in a remote IGN module type diz a long while ago but that didn't seem like it was running bad then. Oh well whatever.

We should def run a engine tune event at one of these gtg; seems like a lot of people might benefit from some communal tdi knowledge and if someone was real bright they'd document it for the board.

Glad you got it all tuned up; now get those floors in!

Er, to be clear that's the 4.2 efi engine in the Range Rover not the Series project .
