The PO of my D90 had an aftermarket exhaust welded in and the tail pipe cut off short. I guess I'm getting old, but the throaty sound doesn't always sound so good to me, and at certain rpms resonates badly. It also spits carbon all over the back axle and bumper/hitch area. So I picked up a hardly used stock muffler and tail pipe off ebay for $61
The stock muffler has a 2-bolt coupler system on both sides (sorry, I don't know what the proper term is), with the tailpipe side being complete. I would like to weld one of these onto the Y side so it just bolts in as it should.
Here is my question. Are these "standard" couplings/joints? My #1 choice is to buy the coupling and weld it on myself, otherwise is this something a midas type shop will be able to do without it costing me an arm and a leg? If these couplings are standard, where would I buy such a thing - I checked an autozone and they didn't have anything like it.
Oh, and hangers too - are these going to be a problem? I need two of them. The current muffler is help up with two metal exhaust clamps
