What radio did you end up going with? I am looking for something small and "hidden" and really only care about having iPod jack or something along those lines.

Why not go straight from the IPhone etc to the amp and avoid the radio completely?

Hey guys-- I ended up going with a "kicker" amp... hidden behind the dash... i didn't put it under the seat, as i learned it gets wet under there during off-roading... =D ... i mounted 2 speakers on the roll bars behind the drivers seat... they can swivel toward the front or back... the remote fit nicely in the ashtray on the dash, and the plug from the amp is in the cubby by the steering wheel... note that the amp has a plug for iphone4s, so i had to get an adapter for it to work with my iphone 5... i got a iphone dash mount (link below) and the amp charges the iphone as well... very minimalist, but gets the job done... the only ONE thing i could say is that the sound varies, depending on the MP3 track... some are recorded at higher levels than others... plus, the ambient sound from the D90 varies so much, that i find myself constantly toying with the volume level... (aka, when i'm moving, i have the volume way up, so that i can hear the tunes... but then when i come to a stop, i'm blasted out)... but that's just the nature of the beast... if you wanted fuller sound, you should probably consider adding two small speakers up near the dash too, but my setup is fine for me... hope that helps!

Mike, thats great info. I think I'd like to do something similar in my 130. Would you mind showing us a couple of photos of your setup?

This is the same system I went with on my 110. I put the kicker amp in the back in a pelican case with a fuse block and ran an extension cable to the front control unit. The speakers are mounted to the roll cage. Cheapo $30 indoor/outdoor speakers but sound fine to me (diesel engine and all).

You don't have enough buttons on your dash yet.....

Once the dust has settled on the bills from my build, that kicker system or some cheapo knock off will be on my shopping list.

Chris - love what you're doing there with the dual speakers. Where do you keep the pelican case?

I have a pretty large Tuffy center console box so I put a false bottom in it to cover the amp. The regular Tuffy console head unit slot is occupied by a Kenwood stereo. I run a USB connected cable through a hole I drilled in the side of my Tuffy box to my iPhone which I place in a universal clamp mounted low on the windshield with a suction cup. The rear speaker boxes house 6.5" drivers facing up at an angle (not straight up) and I think 8" subs facing down. It actually sounds really good and is quite loud. My local car audio shop can probably make more custom speaker boxes. They fit where the third and fourth jump seats used to be. Also the rear speaker/subwoofer boxes are sprayed with some kind of line-x type product. Pics coming.

I made a little shelf for the pelican and the compressor and put it on the side by the internal cage. Here are some pics.

The third pic is supposed to be of the downward firing sub. I used a step drill and a rubber grommet to keep the iPhone cable from getting cut. Off topic but I am very happy that I recovered the Tuffy box top pad with Sunbrella. It beats the hell out of sweat inducing vinyl.
