Stereo

Could you some help in this arena. I would like to replace the POS single disk CD player in the truck. I have gone with the Iron Goat dash so my radio is up in the middle of the dash. It is a single Din slot. What I would like to know is:
I want a pop out screen to view NAV/DVD and radio controls but since it is a single DIN slot, I don't care if there is a remote processor for everything and the screen would just be for I/O.

Does any one make one of these and are any forum members running this set up.

Check out my Registry page for my setup - I absolutely love it. I'm happy to answer any questions I can, but Boston Mobile Concepts did the install.

Thanks guys. I went with the Kenwood
Kenwood KIV-701 Digital Media Receiver
and a Boyo AVS200 DVD/CD/MP3 Player (cheap player) but it allows me to still play DVDs and CDs and the Kenwood has extra jack outputs for additional screens in case I have to keep the little guy occupied (bad parent).

The Asteriod was an exceptional value but I think it is beyond my multi media needs currently and the voice command won't work give the loudness of the ST.

Not a bad choice either... however, I have found the exception noise cancelation of the Parrot to not be effected much be the ST.

WHile we're on the subject, post up pics of how you mounted a stereo/mp3/cd player in your trucks.

Currently I have a cassette and am/fm stereo just bolted to the underside of my dash, sucks in every way. I'm thinking about getting some speakers put up top in the hardtop and picking up a decent but low $$ radio. Just dont know where the heck i'd mount it. If they have stereo/CB units I might spring for that.

Adrian your current setup is awesome. Keep it! I think Dan has an 8-track in the RRC.

I am VERY excited to get the balance of my install done over the next 3-4 days. I purchased a REALLY nice Raptor Engineering dash, instrument kit. I am putting in some new gauges, new Carling switches (all laser etched), and finally a permanent mount for the Yeasu 2M, and Asteroid stereo. Since mine is a 97, I plan to put a cubby box in where the factory stereo location is.
I am planning a full picture session for others that may be interested in doing the same.

I am also looking forward to being sore and cut and bruised from climbing in and out several hundred times during the install with the 4" lift with 35" tires... ugh.

Adrian,
Will do. I currently have a Iron Goat dash in the center with has my under the passenger's seat fuel tank fuel gauge, clock, Air conditioning controls, seat heater switches, and spare tank bump switch. I will post picture of the center dash where the receiver will go, just need to find a place for the DVD/CD player as it is seperate and appart from the unit.

Bryan That is sick!!! Where are you going to mount it.

The mud UK center dash gets kinda warm inside of it when you have a CD or DVD player with all the moving parts and processing going on. On a summers day the CDs are pretty warm coming out of the player which is why I went with a remote CD/DVD player to interface with the Head unit. I really liked the idea of a pop up screen but I think I would end up frying the insides.

Do people actually still use CDs? I bet it is 10 years or more since I've taken one out of a case. It amazes me how the majority of decks still are made with CD players built in.

This is the site that shows installed units in the D-90 - the price is WAY more than reasonable for what this is. Dirt cheap in my opinion.

We are thinking to import them, but not sure yet.
