Unhappy Steering box question (leak)

It looks like my steering box has sprung a large leak. I have big puddles and now very difficult to turn wheel at slow speeds.

My question for those with the knowledge is can mine be affordably repaired with gasket or washer or whatever has been breached or should I get prepared for the $650 purchase.

Thanks for the insight.

Steve
