State side frame swap?

I don't think this horse has been beat quite to death, judging from a quick search, so here it goes.

If you do buy a new frame for you truck, how do you go about making it legal? I'm in NY, but wondering about this in general.

I remember seeing something about calling DMV, or just stamping yourself.

You have to read your own state's laws and assure compliance.

I know it's a Series so somewhat different, but I'm planning to start the galvy swap on my '71 IIA this summer in NY....and I'm of the mentality that it's happening without making a damn call to anyone.

But I'd say don't stamp anything, but keep the old horn and document the swap. Of course that's only my opinion and I haven't researched it all that much.
